Assam Flood Death Toll Reaches 100, 1.4 Lakh Affected
Many parts of Assam, a state in India, are covered by floodwater.
The water is so high that it has hurt and even taken the lives of people.
Sadly, 100 people have died in the floods this year.
More than one lakh thirty-seven thousand people, which is a very large number, are affected.
That means their homes and villages are under water.
The worst-hit areas are Golaghat, Sivasagar and Jorhat.
The government has set up 125 relief camps where about 49,000 people are staying safely.
These camps give people food like rice, dal, salt and mustard oil.
The floods have also damaged farms and hurt many animals.
Authorities are watching the rivers carefully because some are still flowing at dangerous levels.
The Assam flood death toll reached 100 after two deaths in Golaghat and Karbi Anglong, according to the ASDMA bulletin.
More than 1,37,500 people are affected across seven districts, with Golaghat the worst hit at nearly 70,000.
An earlier report had put the toll at 98 with 1.55 lakh people affected across 13 districts.
The administration runs 125 relief camps and centres sheltering 49,061 people, while 456 villages remain inundated.
Floodwaters damaged 11,933.46 hectares of cropland and 43,331 domestic animals and poultry; Dhansiri and Kushiyara rivers flow above danger level.
