Andhra Pradesh Replacing 10.5 Lakh Street Lights With Smart LEDs
The government of Andhra Pradesh, a state in India, wants to make street lights smarter.
Street lights are the lamps that light up roads at night.
The government is going to replace about 10.5 lakh old street lights with new LED lights.
LED lights use less electricity, which saves money.
A company called EESL will help with this big job.
The new lights will be connected to a computer system that can turn them on and off from one central place.
This system can also find broken lights quickly so they get fixed faster.
The government says this will save about 19.57 million units of electricity every year.

The Andhra Pradesh government is replacing nearly 10.5 lakh conventional street lights with smart LEDs across all 123 urban local bodies.
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the Union Ministry of Power, signed a tripartite agreement with CDMA and the ULBs for the project.
The project covers 7.5 lakh street lights in the initial phase and another three lakh under the extended scope.
Each light will have an Individual Light Monitoring (ILM) controller for remote switching, energy measurement, fault detection and predictive maintenance.
Officials said the initial 7.5 lakh smart LEDs are expected to save around 19.57 million units of electricity annually and cut consumption by nearly 20 per cent.
