Punjab to install 3 lakh solar LED streetlights in villages

The government of Punjab wants to put new streetlights in villages across the state.

The special lights will be solar streetlights, which means they use energy from the Sun.

They also use LED bulbs, which are very good at saving power.

The government will put up three lakh, or 300,000, of these lights.

The whole project will cost Rs 470 crore.

The state government will pay 70 rupees out of every 100 spent.

Village councils will pay the remaining 30 rupees.

In the past, village councils had to pay too much, so the government changed the plan.

The lights will make village streets safer at night and help shops and markets stay open later.

A special agency called PEDA will take care of installing and maintaining the lights.
