Delhi Police honoured with 17 medals, including 2 President's Medals
On Independence Day, our country celebrates and gives special awards to very brave and hardworking people.
This year, the police department of Delhi gave out 17 special medals to some of its officers.
Two of these medals were the biggest kind, called the President's Medal for Distinguished Service.
Fifteen officers received another medal called the Medal for Meritorious Service.
These medals say "thank you" to police officers for working hard to keep people safe.
One of the top medal winners, Mr. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, helps manage traffic in Delhi.
Another winner, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, started as a police constable in 1988 and handled important office work for the police.
The officers also did great things like fighting crime, keeping airports safe, and building new computer systems for police work.
Winning one of these medals is a very big honor, and it makes people proud of their police force.
Seventeen Delhi Police personnel were named for service medals on Independence Day, including two President's Medals for Distinguished Service and 15 Medals for Meritorious Service.
PSM recipients include Additional CP (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, a 2010-batch IPS officer who had earlier received the MSM in 2018, and Sub-Inspector (Executive) Rajesh Kumar, who joined as a constable in 1988.
S K Shokeen, Commandant (Home Guards), DG Home Guards, was also awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service.
MSM recipients include Joint CP (Crime Branch) Surender Kumar, who pioneered the e-Beat Book system in 2015, and Joint CP (Economic Offences Wing) Nupur Prasad, the first DCP of Shahdara district.
Inspectors Rakesh Kumar Bhatt and Tara Dutt were among the MSM awardees, along with personnel at the assistant sub-inspector and head constable levels.
