Independence Day 2026: Maharashtra Police Honoured With Gallantry, Service Medals
India celebrates its Independence Day every year.
This year, just before the big celebration, the government gave special awards to police officers.
These awards show that the officers did a great job keeping people safe.
Some medals are for doing excellent work for many years.
Other medals are for being brave, even when the work was dangerous.
Police officers in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra received these medals.
One top officer, Shirish Ravindra Jain, got a very special medal for his great service.
Many officers from Pranhita and Aheri also got bravery medals.
This made their families very proud.
The awards are a way of saying thank you to the police for keeping everyone safe.
On the eve of Independence Day, the Central Government honoured Maharashtra police personnel with distinguished service, meritorious service, and gallantry medals.
Shirish Ravindra Jain, Commissioner of the State Intelligence Department, Maharashtra, Mumbai, received the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Six Mumbai Police personnel received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, including Pravin Vinayak Tejale (Assistant Commissioner of Police) and several sub-inspectors.
A large number of police officers and personnel from Pranhita and Aheri figured in the gallantry medal list.
The list of award recipients was announced in an order issued by the Maharashtra Director General of Police's office.
