UP Cops Get 12 President's Gallantry Medals on Independence Day
On Independence Day, the President of India gives special medals to brave police officers.
Twelve police officers from Uttar Pradesh are getting a medal for bravery called the Gallantry Medal.
This medal is given to officers who show great courage while doing their duty.
One officer, Inspector Sunil Kumar, is getting the medal after he died.
He was shot while fighting criminals in a place called Shamli.
His family will receive the medal for him.
81 other police workers are getting a medal for doing their jobs very well.
Six senior officers are also being honored, including the police chief.
Sixteen fire service workers are getting bravery medals too.

Martyr Inspector Sunil Kumar of the Special Task Force (STF) will be posthumously awarded the gallantry medal after being shot during an encounter in Shamli.
81 police personnel will be awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Six senior officers, including Director General of Police Dhruv Kant Thakur, will receive the President's Medal for Meritorious Service.
Sixteen fire services personnel will also be awarded the President's Gallantry Medal.
