IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert Across India Through August 15
The weather department in India, called the IMD, watches the monsoon - the season when lots of rain falls.
They said that from August 9 to August 15, many parts of India will get a lot of rain.
The mountains in the north, like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, may get very heavy rain.
That much rain can cause landslides and make rivers rise quickly, so people need to be careful.
Big cities like Delhi can get sudden showers that cause puddles on roads.
Southern India, especially Kerala and parts of Karnataka, may also get very heavy rain.
In Kerala, some places could receive 7 to 11 centimeters of rain in a short time.
Coastal areas like Mumbai and Goa will see rainy weather too.
The rain often comes in short bursts rather than all day long.
Travellers planning to visit the hill states should check weather warnings before they go.
The IMD warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Western Himalayan region between August 9 and 15, with risks of landslides, flash floods and road connectivity disruption.
Delhi-NCR is likely to see cloudy skies, high humidity and intermittent showers from August 9-12, with concerns over waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions.
Kerala and parts of Karnataka are expected to receive heavy rainfall, with some Kerala locations capable of getting 7-11 cm of rain in a short period on August 9.
The west coast, including Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, will remain under active monsoon conditions through August 10-14, with Mumbai likely to see intense rain in bursts.
Central and eastern India, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, parts of Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal, will see light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells from August 9-13.
