Guntur Kisan Mela to Offer El Nino Crop Advice
Farmers in Guntur are worried because a weather pattern called El Nino might bring unusual rainfall that could hurt their crops.
To help them, the agriculture department is hosting a special fair and workshop called a Kisan Mela on August 11.
Scientists will be at the fair to give advice on crops like rice (paddy), cotton, corn (maize), beans (pulses) and fruits and vegetables.
They will explain how to manage water, use fertilizer, and protect plants from pests and diseases.
Farmers will also learn about alternative crops they could grow if the weather turns bad.
There will be a chance to talk directly with scientists and government officials and ask questions.
Visitors can see new seed varieties and modern watering systems like drip irrigation and sprinklers.
The event starts at 10 am at Krishna Auditorium, Lam Farm, in Guntur.
All farmers in Guntur district are invited to come and use the scientific guidance.
A Kisan Mela-cum-workshop will be held in Guntur on August 11 to help farmers deal with the possible impact of El Nino conditions on crops.
