India proposes mandatory vehicle-to-vehicle communication for new vehicles

Have you ever wished cars could warn each other about traffic jams or dangers ahead?

That idea is called vehicle-to-vehicle communication, or V2V for short.

It means vehicles can 'talk' to each other using special technology.

India wants to make this technology a part of everyday driving.

The government's transport ministry has made a new rule suggestion.

If it becomes a rule, every new vehicle made after 1 October 2028 must have it.

This includes new motorcycles, cars, and trucks.

The vehicles must follow a new technical standard called AIS-230.

The rule will be added slowly, in phases, so everyone can get used to it.

This plan is part of India's dream of a new era of connected mobility.
