Telangana seeks 11.56 lakh PMAY-G houses in one phase
A leader from a state called Telangana went to the capital city to ask the national government for help.
His name is Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and he met a big national leader named Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
They talked about a program that gives houses to poor families who live in villages.
The program is called PMAY-G.
Telangana wants to build over 11 lakh houses all at once for poor families.
Workers used a phone app to visit homes and count how many families needed houses.
The counting and checking of families were finished a year ago, but the national government has not yet approved the houses.
The state government also promised to give each poor family Rs 5 lakh of extra money to help build their homes.
The national leader agreed to visit Telangana to see the situation for himself.
Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy met Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Wednesday to seek 11,56,915 houses for the state under PMAY-G 2.0.
The state requested the Centre to allocate all houses in a single phase, citing a transparent door-to-door survey conducted using the 'Awaas Plus-2024' app.
Minister Ponguleti said verification and removal of ineligible candidates were completed a year ago, but the Centre has delayed announcing allocation targets.
The state government has decided to provide Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to every poor family for house construction, with funds already allocated in the state budget.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan agreed to visit Telangana in response to the invitation extended by Minister Ponguleti.
