Ghatkopar Landslide Kills Seven; Survivors Question Eviction Notices

A very heavy slide of mud and rocks suddenly came down in a neighborhood called Ghatkopar in Mumbai, India.

This is called a landslide.

It happened very early in the morning, at around 3:35 am.

Sadly, about seven people died and several others were seriously hurt.

The landslide hit a building called Gaushiya Chawl where many families lived.

Before the rainy season, the government had asked people to move out because the area was not safe.

But the families said they had nowhere else to go, and this was the only home they had.

They are asking the government to move them to a safe place.

Some residents also want a strong wall built to protect them from future landslides.

Rescue workers, police, and doctors came quickly to help, and the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
