India auto sales hit record July high, SIAM data shows
Every month, a group called SIAM counts how many cars, bikes, and scooters are sold in India.
In July, they counted more vehicles than ever before for that month.
Car companies sent dealers 34.3 percent more cars than they did last July.
Bikes and scooters also sold much better than the year before.
Three-wheelers, like the little auto-rickshaws, did well too.
A man named Rajesh Menon, who works at SIAM, said this was exciting news.
He thinks people are feeling happy about buying vehicles right now.
One reason might be the special festival season that is coming, when many families like to buy new things.
India's automobile industry recorded its strongest-ever July sales, with passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers posting double-digit growth, according to SIAM data released on Thursday.
Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches rose 34.3 per cent year-on-year to 4,57,810 units in July, compared with 3,40,772 units in the same month last year.
Two-wheeler sales increased 22.6 per cent to 19,23,483 units, while three-wheeler dispatches rose 33.4 per cent to 92,560 units.
In the two-wheeler segment, scooter sales climbed 23.7 per cent to 7,98,190 units, motorcycle sales grew 20.7 per cent to 10,74,796 units, and moped sales surged 48.6 per cent to 50,497 units.
SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said the momentum has continued as the industry enters the festive season, with expectations of strong consumer sentiment supporting demand.
