Indian auto retail achieves best-ever July with 26 pc growth
People in India who sell vehicles had their best month of July ever.
They sold more than 2.5 million vehicles in just one month.
That is almost 26 percent more than they sold in July last year.
Bikes and scooters sold the most, crossing a big record number for July for the first time.
Cars also crossed a large milestone for that month.
Trucks, three-wheelers and tractors all sold very well too.
More than half of the three-wheelers sold used electric power.
Electric vehicles overall sold more in one month than ever before in India.
People in villages and small towns are buying more vehicles than before.
Dealers expect the next few months to be strong, but they also say everyone should watch the sales numbers carefully.
Indian auto retail sales hit a record 25,91,138 units in July, up 25.89% year-on-year, with every vehicle category posting its best-ever July, per FADA data.
Two-wheeler retails crossed the 18-lakh mark for the first time in a July at 18,18,289 units, up 28.25%, with EV share at a record 11.24%.
Passenger vehicle sales crossed the 4-lakh mark for the first time in a July at 4,16,555 units, up 19.13%, led by rural growth of 24.72%.
Three-wheelers at 1,33,778 units posted their best July ever with EV penetration at 65.08%, while commercial vehicles hit a July high at 99,666 units and tractors surged 28.10%.
Total EV retails touched an all-time monthly high of 3,27,901 units at about 12.7% penetration, and dealer confidence for August-October is the strongest recorded in recent history.
