Uttarakhand Media Delegation Visits NTPC Korba, BALCO Facilities
A group of journalists from Uttarakhand visited major energy and industrial facilities.
The trip was organized by PIB Dehradun.
They visited NTPC Korba, BALCO and SECL headquarters.
NTPC Korba makes electricity using its power plant.
Officials said NTPC plans to produce much more electricity in the coming decades.
The Korba plant also reported strong operating performance.
The journalists saw efforts to reuse ash and restore land by planting trees.
They also learned how aluminium is made and how workers’ safety is managed.
The tour was meant to help journalists understand government projects by seeing them directly.
A PIB Dehradun delegation visited NTPC Korba and BALCO on the third day of a five-day media exposure tour.
NTPC said its power-generation capacity is about 91 GW, with targets of 150 GW by 2037 and 240 GW by 2047.
NTPC Korba’s 2,600 MW plant achieved an 87.71% Plant Load Factor in financial year 2025-26.
More than 450,000 saplings were planted at Charpara Ash Dyke, while Korba used 60.71 lakh metric tonnes of ash in 2025-26.
The delegation also learned about aluminium production, technology, safety, environmental management and local development at BALCO and SECL headquarters.
