SSB seizes 100 walkie-talkies and Nepalese currency along India-Nepal border
Border police called the SSB caught people trying to smuggle things across the border between India and Nepal.
In one case, they stopped a car carrying 100 walkie-talkies, which are special radios people use to talk to each other from far away.
The driver said he was paid a small amount of money to take the radios to Nepal.
In another case, they caught a man carrying lots of Nepalese money without the right papers.
The police took the radios, the car, the money, and even the bicycle the man was using.
These walkie-talkies are not just toys, and the police are worried they could be used for bad things.
So the police are keeping a close watch along the border to stop more smuggling.
SSB's 45th Battalion seized 100 Baofeng walkie-talkies and portable wireless devices, a Scorpio vehicle, and Nepalese currency worth Rs 2.63 lakh in Bihar's Supaul district.
Two separate operations led to the apprehension of two people in connection with the cases.
At Niyor Border Outpost, personnel intercepted a Scorpio vehicle heading towards Nepal driven by Devanand Mishra, a resident of Saptari in Nepal.
Mishra allegedly disclosed he was promised Rs 1,000 for transporting the consignment to Nepal, which lacked permission from the Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing.
In a separate operation at Kataiya Border Outpost, Ravindra Yadav was apprehended entering India from Nepal carrying Nepalese currency valued at Rs 2,63,000.
Investigating agencies are examining how the devices reached the border and whether they were transported through courier channels under the guise of other goods.
