Bhopal civic body cuts daily spot-fine target to ₹3,000

Bhopal’s city government collects fines from people and businesses that break cleanliness rules.

It has 21 zones.

Each zone previously had to collect ₹5,000 in fines every day.

Many zones could not reach that amount, so the target was reduced to ₹3,000.

Officials said some zones collected less than ₹1,500 daily.

Fines can be issued for littering, mixing waste, burning garbage and other violations.

The normal maximum fine is ₹10,000, but some cases received fines as high as ₹50,000.

A senior official told health officers to meet the new target.
