Vallabh Bhawan Registers as Bulk Waste Generator; BMC Fines Hospital
In the city of Bhopal, a big government building called Vallabh Bhawan decided to sign up as a 'bulk waste generator'.
That means it officially promised to handle its garbage the right way.
This happened because the city office called the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, or BMC, asked large institutions to follow new garbage rules.
The rules are called the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
They say big places like hospitals must separate different kinds of trash.
The BMC also found a hospital mixing dangerous medical waste with regular wet and kitchen waste.
So it fined that hospital 50,000 rupees.
A dental clinic was fined 20,000 rupees for not following the rules.
The BMC wants everyone who makes lots of garbage to register and keep the city clean and safe from harmful waste.
Vallabh Bhawan in Bhopal voluntarily registered its premises as a Bulk Waste Generator (BWG) following the Bhopal Municipal Corporation's appeal.
The registration is part of the BMC's enforcement drive to ensure compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The BMC imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Bhopal Hospital and Research Centre (BHRC) for mixing biomedical waste with wet and kitchen waste.
A dental clinic in Ratnagiri was fined Rs 20,000 for failing to follow prescribed waste-management norms.
The BMC has appealed to all eligible establishments to register on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) portal at the earliest.
