Every year, India celebrates Independence Day, the day the country became free.

On India's 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a big speech from an old fort called the Red Fort in New Delhi.

He talked about education, which means schools and colleges.

He said that in the last ten years, India built almost 650 new universities, where students study after high school.

He also said there are now nearly twice as many medical seats as before 2014, so more students can train to become doctors.

Modi said that for 35 years there was no new plan for education, and his government made a new education policy.

He said universities from other countries are now coming to India, so young people can get foreign degrees without leaving home.

He said the government gave children more than 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs, special places where they can learn science and technology.

Modi also praised young Indian entrepreneurs, saying private startups led by people with an average age of 28 launched their own satellites and rockets on their first try.

His speech showed how India is helping more young people learn and create.
