Indian Railways Clears ₹675 Crore Safety and Freight Projects
Indian Railways approved three projects costing a total of ₹675 crore.
One project will add Kavach safety technology in Uttar Pradesh.
Kavach can help stop trains from passing a signal when they should not and can apply brakes automatically.
Another project will build an 11-kilometre bypass in West Bengal for freight trains.
This should reduce delays and help carry more industrial goods.
The bypass is expected to support about 6.065 freight rakes each day.
In Bihar, signalling at 21 stations will be upgraded with computer-based Electronic Interlocking.
Together, the projects are intended to make trains safer and railway operations more efficient.
Indian Railways approved three infrastructure projects worth ₹675 crore across Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar.
₹170 crore will extend Kavach Version 4.0 across the remaining 712 route kilometres of Moradabad Division.
A ₹272 crore, 11-kilometre bypass between Adra and Joychandipahar will provide a separate freight route.
The West Bengal bypass is expected to support 6.065 freight rakes daily and add 8.88 million tonnes of annual capacity.
A ₹233 crore project will install Electronic Interlocking at 21 stations in Bihar’s Samastipur Division.
