Anantapur Red Cross new executive committee takes charge, meets Collector
Some adults in Anantapur, India, help people stay healthy and safe.
They belong to a club called the Indian Red Cross Society.
The club recently picked new leaders during a special meeting.
Many people wanted to be leaders at first.
Instead of fighting about it, everyone talked and agreed on eleven leaders together.
The new leaders then visited the District Collector, an important local officer.
He asked them to help with blood donation, disaster preparation, and health care.
He also asked them to get ready for a special event on August 30.
At that event, free artificial arms and legs will be given to people who need them.
The new leaders promised to work hard for the community.
A new 11-member Executive Committee of the Indian Red Cross Society (Anantapur District Branch) took charge and paid a courtesy call on District Collector and Society President O Anand.
The committee was formed unanimously through two rounds of consultative talks after 44 nominations were filed across four competing panels.
Dr Gajjala Lakshmana Prasad was elected Chairman, Professor Dr Geetha Bala Vice-Chairperson, and Sunkara Ramesh Treasurer, along with eight executive members.
Collector O Anand urged the committee to expand blood donation drives, disaster management, and healthcare initiatives across Anantapur.
The Collector directed the committee to streamline arrangements for the 'Cheyutha' free artificial limb distribution drive scheduled for August 30.
