Thane Municipal Corporation Launches Major Anti-Encroachment Drive In Vartak Nagar, Clears Pedestrian Footpaths · freepressjournal.in

The city government of Thane in India decided to clean up some sidewalks.

Street vendors had set up carts and small shops that blocked people from walking safely.

People had to walk into busy traffic lanes, which was dangerous.

So on the night of August 10, 2026, city workers arrived with big machines.

They removed four carts, one small shop, four tables, and twelve wooden sheds.

Security guards and city workers helped with the cleanup.

The city's mayor and top officials had ordered this action because of many complaints.

Now the city says it will keep checking the area every day.

That way, the sidewalks will stay clear and safe for everyone to use.
