Gujarat Monsoon Uneven: South Above 100%, Kutch at 29%

Every year, India gets rain during the monsoon season.

The rain is very important for farmers and for people's water supplies.

This year, the rain in Gujarat, a state in India, has not been spread evenly.

The southern part of Gujarat got more than all the rain it normally gets for the whole season.

Some districts there, like Navsari and Surat, received lots of rain.

But the Kutch region in the north-west got very little rain, only 29 percent of normal.

That is much less than what it had received last year.

The whole state has received about 74 percent of its usual rainfall so far.

The monsoon usually starts leaving Gujarat around September 15.

People in Kutch might be worried because their region is very dry this year.
