About 400 students took part in two competitions run by the school education department.

They came from government, aided and private schools across the state.

The event was part of the Central government’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

Half the students competed in painting, and half took part in elocution, or public speaking.

The contests took place at Haailand in Mangalagiri on Friday.

They gave students a chance to share ideas about helping others and caring for society.

A school education official said activities like these can build confidence and independent thinking.

Winners received prizes and merit certificates, and everyone who participated received a certificate.
