36 Dogs Join Andhra Pradesh Police After Specialized Training
Andhra Pradesh police have added 36 specially trained dogs to their teams.
The dogs trained for 10 months before joining service.
They can find drugs, explosives and the remains of people.
They can also track people and help find missing people during disasters.
Some of the dogs will work with the State Disaster Response Force.
Officials said dogs can help when technology or forensic evidence is not enough.
The police said 218 dogs now serve across the state.
The previous group of dogs helped police with 97 cases and found six missing children.
Police handlers are being taught how to care for and work with the dogs.
Thirty-six dogs completed 10 months of specialized training and joined Andhra Pradesh police canine teams.
The dogs can detect explosives, narcotics and cadavers, track people, support search-and-rescue operations, and assist with assaults.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said 218 dogs currently serve across Andhra Pradesh, including 78 trained during the past two years.
Cadaver-detection and search-and-rescue dogs will join the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response Force.
The previous batch helped solve 97 cases, including narcotics, murder, violent crime, robbery and theft cases, and traced six missing children.
