Andhra Pradesh Launches 26 Mobile Forensic Vehicles Statewide
Andhra Pradesh has launched 26 special vehicles to help police investigate crime scenes.
The vehicles can travel to districts and help collect evidence quickly.
They carry tools for fingerprints, bloodstains, gunshot residue, fires, narcotics, and cyber investigations.
Police will use them especially for serious offences that can lead to seven or more years in prison.
The vehicles are part of a three-level forensic support system working around the clock.
Other teams will handle immediate assistance and complicated cases.
Officials say the system will help protect evidence from the crime scene to the laboratory.
In 2025, the state forensic laboratory examined 92.5% of the cases it received.
Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Kumar Gupta flagged off 26 district mobile forensic vehicles in Mangalagiri on Wednesday.
The vehicles form the second tier of the state’s three-tier, 24x7 forensic evidence collection system.
They will support investigations into offences punishable with seven years or more under Section 176(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
The vehicles include kits for bloodstains, gunshot residue, narcotics, fire and arson, fingerprints, and cyber-forensic work.
The APFSL examined 23,682 of 25,602 cases in 2025, recording a 92.5% disposal rate.
