Japanese Defence Minister Visits India to Deepen Maritime Cooperation
Japan’s Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi is visiting India for two days.
He started his visit in Mumbai.
He saw an official Guard of Honour and visited an Indian Navy ship.
He also learned about the Indian Navy’s work and capabilities.
Koizumi spoke with senior Indian Navy officers.
On Thursday, he is scheduled to meet India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The two countries want to work more closely on maritime security and defence technology.
They also want to support peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi began a two-day official visit to India in Mumbai.
Koizumi inspected a Guard of Honour, laid a wreath and visited the stealth destroyer INS Chennai.
He held discussions with Indian Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan and Vice Admiral Sanjay Mahajan Vatsayan.
India and Japan are seeking deeper maritime security and defence equipment cooperation under the Make-in-India framework.
Koizumi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are scheduled to discuss bilateral defence ties and Indo-Pacific security in New Delhi.
