India-Japan Defence Cooperation on Agenda as Koizumi Meets Rajnath
India and Japan are good friends who like to work together to keep the ocean safe.
The defence leaders of both countries will meet in New Delhi on August 20 to talk about working together more.
Before that, the Japanese defence minister will visit a naval base in Mumbai.
The two countries are building a special antenna called UNICORN that helps navy ships hide better.
They also plan to hold an air exercise in September, where Japanese fighter planes will come to India.
Later this year, both navies will join a big exercise called Malabar with the United States and Australia.
The two countries want to keep the Indo-Pacific region free and open.
They also talk about cyber security, space, and new military technology.
This helps keep important sea routes safe and protects the region.
Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi will meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on August 20.
Koizumi will arrive in Mumbai on August 19 and is expected to visit a naval base there.
India and Japan recently signed their first co-development agreement for the UNICORN naval radio antenna system.
Fighter aircraft from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force are expected to travel to India for an air exercise in September.
The Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force are scheduled to participate in the annual Malabar exercise with the United States and Australia.
