Maharashtra FDA Takes Action Against Suspected Substandard Milk Products
Food safety officials in Maharashtra checked several places that sell milk products.
They seized 878 litres of colostrum in Palghar district.
The product was not labelled and was not kept at the right temperature.
Officials also said it was transported and stored in dirty conditions.
At a Kolhapur shop, they found paneer and shrikhand suspected to be below required standards.
At a Pune shop, they found khawa or khoya stored without a label in very unhygienic conditions.
The officials began action under food safety rules.
Further legal action is still being taken.
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration seized 878 litres of suspicious colostrum worth Rs 1,05,360 in Palghar district.
The colostrum was reportedly unlabelled, transported without proper temperature control, and kept in unhygienic conditions.
At Kolhapur Milk and Bakers, officials identified 59 kg of suspected substandard paneer and 35 kg of shrikhand.
At Amar Sweet in Pune, 74 kg of khawa or khoya was found unlabelled and stored in extremely unhygienic conditions.
The FDA said legal and regulatory action was initiated against the establishments and further action was continuing.
