Heavy Rain Likely in Odisha Till August 16, IMD Warns
The India Meteorological Department is the group of weather experts in India.
They said a big rain system is forming over a huge sea called the Bay of Bengal.
Because of this, the state of Odisha will get very heavy rain for several days, maybe until August 16.
The rain will become even stronger between August 12 and 15.
The experts sent out a yellow warning, which means people should be careful and stay alert.
Thunderstorms and strong, gusty winds may also happen.
In the city of Rourkela, roads were covered with water and it was hard for people to move around.
In Bhadrak, rivers are rising and water has entered some villages.
Fishermen were told to stay away from the sea from August 11 to 14 because the waves will be very big and dangerous.
People should listen to weather alerts and stay safe.
The India Meteorological Department said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around August 12, triggering heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha.
Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in parts of Odisha till August 16, with activity intensifying from August 12 to 15.
A yellow warning was issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected.
Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea along the Odisha coast from August 11 to 14 due to rough conditions.
Heavy rain caused waterlogging in Rourkela and flooding in Bhadrak's Tihidi block, while flash-flood warnings were issued for parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
