TN Finance Minister Hails CM Vijay as True Jananayagan

In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the government presented its first Budget plan, called the Revised Estimates for 2026-27.

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N Marie Wilson made the speech in the Assembly on Wednesday.

He praised Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay as a true democrat and a 'Jananayagan,' which means 'people's leader.'

He said Vijay overcame conspiracies and won a historic election victory for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, or TVK, party.

The minister quoted an old Tamil saying from the Thirukkural that all people are equal by birth.

He listed help for families, including free electricity and loans for farmers being waived, plus support for growing Kuruvai crops.

He also spoke about new safety plans, such as the Singapenn Special Task Force for women's safety and Anti-Narcotics Task Force units.

The government has closed 717 liquor shops that were near schools, places of worship, and bus stands.

Starting September 15, babies born in government hospitals will receive a gold ring through the Thaaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam scheme.

The leader of the opposition, Udhayanidhi Stalin, was also in the Assembly after being released on station bail on August 3.
