USC Names Epic Universe Creative Executive Steve Tatham Program Director

USC has named Steve Tatham director of its Themed Entertainment Program and appointed him to its faculty.

Tatham was executive creative director of Universal’s Epic Universe, which includes themed lands based on Nintendo, How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter and Universal Monsters.

He previously held creative roles at Universal Studios Japan and Walt Disney Imagineering, and began his career as a skipper on Disney’s Jungle Cruise.

The USC program teaches students to create themed experiences for places such as theme parks, zoos, museums, retail spaces and restaurants.

It is part of the School of Cinematic Arts’ Interactive Media & Games Division and offers a bachelor’s degree in themed entertainment.

Tatham will guide students as they prepare to create new experiences, drawing on his work across theme parks and other attractions.
