Supreme Court declines challenge to dropping cases against 21 AIADMK MLAs

The 21 legislators had defied party orders and voted for a confidence motion backed by the governing TVK.

AIADMK asked the Speaker to withdraw the disqualification cases against them, and the Speaker agreed.

The Supreme Court said the party worker who challenged that decision was not an MLA and could not bring the challenge.

It said courts should generally leave such political decisions to parties and the Speaker unless they are clearly unconstitutional.
