October brings two meteor showers and the Hunter’s Moon
October offers two chances to see meteors streak across the sky.
The Draconids are most active on October 8–9, while the Orionids peak on October 21 and come from debris left by Halley’s Comet.
The full Moon on October 26 is traditionally called the Hunter’s Moon, but it is not a different kind of Moon.
Dark skies and clear weather make the events easier to see, and the Moon may hide some fainter meteors.
