Citizens’ group seeks help for seriously ill surrendered Maoist in prison
A Bengaluru citizens’ group says surrendered Maoist Kotehonda Ravindra is seriously ill and in an intensive care unit.
Ravindra is being held in a Keralam prison in connection with a National Investigation Agency case.
He surrendered in February 2025 and returned to the mainstream, after six other Maoists surrendered in Bengaluru the previous month.
The group says the Karnataka government has not fulfilled assurances on release and rehabilitation made during the surrenders.
It wants Karnataka to work with Keralam to move his cases forward and secure his relocation.
It has also called for legal help, medical treatment, family visits and clear information about his health.
The group says other surrendered Maoists are still awaiting rehabilitation, and has urged the government to honour its commitments to them.
