Pertamina Geothermal Energy reports drilling five wells in Indonesia
Pertamina Geothermal Energy, an Indonesian geothermal company, says it drilled five wells across three operating areas during 2026.
The work included exploration wells, which seek new geothermal resources, and make-up wells, which help maintain steam supplies for operating power plants.
At Gunung Tiga, the company completed drilling exploration well GTG-B.1 on June 9.
At Lumut Balai, it completed well LMB 19-3 and began drilling LMB-19.4, which has a target depth of 2,500 metres and is part of plans for a 55-megawatt Unit 3.
The company also began drilling make-up well UBL-T.1 in Ulubelu and well TPS-P1.2 in Tompaso, which has a target depth of about 2,300 metres and potential capacity of about 8 megawatts.
The drilling is intended both to develop new geothermal capacity and to support reliable operation of existing assets.
The company provided no further timeline for the wells still being drilled.

What people are saying
Drilling is one concrete step by PGE in developing the use of geothermal energy, both to open up potential new capacity and to optimize assets that are already operating.
These two approaches are part of Reservoir & Drilling Management to optimize the use of geothermal resources sustainably.
