Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index falls 0.85% in early trading

Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index opened lower on Tuesday and was down 0.85% by 9 a.m.

local time.

The index tracks shares traded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Investors were watching concerns about a possible change in Indonesia’s status from an emerging market to a frontier market in MSCI’s classifications.

They were also weighing escalating attacks involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group, which have raised concerns about energy supplies.

Oil prices rose on Monday, with Brent crude closing at $106.65 a barrel and US crude at $93.74.

Higher oil prices and uncertainty over Indonesia’s market status added to pressure on the local market after it fell the previous day.

Investors were expected to keep watching these issues, including the outlook for MSCI changes that analysts said could be decided in the second half of 2027.
