Singh says military strength will depend on speed of decision-making
India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke at Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
The Indian Air Force hosted the exercise from September 26 to October 12, with air forces from seven countries and observers from 32 others taking part.
Singh said military strength will depend less on how many aircraft and other platforms a country has and more on how quickly it can detect threats, make decisions and act.
He said warfare now also extends into space, cyberspace, the electromagnetic spectrum and the information domain, with drones and artificial intelligence playing growing roles.
Singh said India aims to develop its own defence technology while cooperating with other countries on research, production, training and innovation.
The exercise included joint planning and training, and featured Indian-made Tejas aircraft and Prachand helicopters.
Singh urged the Indian Air Force to apply lessons from the exercise to its training, tactics, technology and future capabilities.
