Indonesia’s Bulog Holds 4.5 Million Tonnes of Rice Ahead of El Niño
Bulog, Indonesia’s state rice agency, says it has 4.5 million tonnes of rice in stock.
It built up supplies early to prepare for possible drought and a lean season linked to El Niño.
The reserves are intended to help provide food aid to poor and vulnerable people for eight months this year.
Having rice in reserve may also reduce the need to rely on imports.
