Morena says members can pursue other roles amid candidate selection
Ariadna Montiel, the national leader of Mexico’s Morena party, addressed concerns about party members receiving roles described as “consolation prizes.”
Some leaders already have municipal coordinator positions, even though applications for those roles opened only on Thursday.
Montiel said everyone has the right to continue seeking other responsibilities in the party’s selection processes.
She said calls for unity should support Morena’s broader project, not a particular candidacy.
In Nuevo León, the party’s election commission chair, Citlalli Hernández, is speaking with Tatiana Clouthier and designated coordinator Clara Luz Flores.
The party says it wants to hear people’s views and build unity around its 2027 project.
Montiel said alliances and proposals should benefit the public, rather than be used to secure positions.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
Everyone has the right to continue participating in other responsibilities (…) calls for unity are always around the project, as we always do
What we are doing is listening to everyone in their legitimate right to express their opinions about the process
Our alliances and proposals should serve to expand Mexico’s well-being. It is not about securing positions
