Arras marked three years since teacher Dominique Bernard was killed in a terrorist attack at the Gambetta school complex on 13 October 2023.

Bernard was a teacher in the northern French city.

People observed a minute of silence in his memory at 11 a.m.

in the city’s Place des Héros.

The moment also honoured Samuel Paty and other victims of terrorism.

A ceremony was planned for 5 p.m.

at Square Frachon, with students, artists and members of the school community taking part.

The event will include the unveiling of a three-metre sculpture created by artist Antoine Dochniak.

Arras said the day was intended to keep Bernard’s memory alive and express hope, freedom and solidarity.
