Moscow mayor says 417 drones were directed toward the region overnight

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 417 Ukrainian drones were directed toward the Moscow region from the evening of October 12 to the morning of October 13.

He said most were shot down far from the capital, while air defenses destroyed 65 as they approached Moscow.

Sobyanin also said Russian forces had shot down 23 drones heading for the capital since midnight; the statement does not explain how this figure relates to the overnight total.

Restrictions affected Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, disrupting their operations.

By the time of the statement, restrictions at Zhukovsky had been lifted.

The Russian Defence Ministry separately said 33 drones were shot down over four other regions between 8 a.m.

and 8 p.m.

on October 13.
