Pope says death penalty is unacceptable

The Pope said the death penalty is unacceptable because it harms a person’s dignity.

He said secure prisons can protect the public and support justice without execution.

He added that prisoners should still have a chance to change.

His message was posted on the World Day Against the Death Penalty.
