Gambhir calls for a more even contest after West Indies chase 249

West Indies scored enough to chase down India’s huge total of 249 runs.

The result showed how difficult it can be for bowlers to defend a score on a batting-friendly pitch.

Gautam Gambhir said cricket should offer a fairer contest between batters and bowlers.

That matters because bowlers’ careers are also affected when conditions leave them little room for error.
