Drone attack damages Yandex data center in Russia

A drone attack damaged a data center belonging to Russian internet company Yandex in Vladimir, more than 170 kilometres east of Moscow.

Yandex said the center had stopped operating and some services were unavailable.

People in several Russian regions and abroad reportedly had problems using services including payments and taxis.

Ukraine had also hit Yandex sites in the Ryazan region and Kaluga on Thursday and Friday.

No one was reported injured in the attack on the Vladimir facility, though a fire broke out and about 5,000 residents initially lost power.

Russia has also attacked data centers in Ukraine, and its Defence Ministry said it had targeted one in Odesa.

The attacks are part of the wider war, in which Ukraine strikes targets inside Russia as it defends itself against Russia's invasion.
