Carlos Saldanha’s ‘100 Days’ tells Amyr Klink’s Atlantic crossing story

Brazilian director Carlos Saldanha’s new film, “100 Days,” tells the story of explorer Amyr Klink’s 1984 solo crossing of the South Atlantic in a small rowing boat.

Klink travelled from Africa to Brazil, a journey that took 100 days.

The film is adapted from his book, “One Hundred Days Between Sky and Sea.”

Filipe Bragança plays Klink, and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu plays his mother.

Saldanha said he wanted to show not only the journey but also what Klink experienced during his long time alone at sea.

The production took nearly a decade to bring to the screen, with the pandemic slowing its development.

“100 Days” is set to close this year’s Rio Film Festival.
