Argentina names Diego Masaragian as national disability secretary

Argentina has appointed Diego Masaragian as national disability secretary after the current head, Pablo Di Liscia, was injured in a motorcycle crash.

Di Liscia suffered several fractures and was hospitalized; officials said he was out of danger and medical tests found no neurological injuries.

Masaragian previously led national health establishments, which include several hospitals and a rehabilitation institute.

The government says the new leadership will continue audits and strengthen controls while working to improve access to services for people with disabilities.

The role covers areas including health, transport, education, employment and social protection, so it requires coordination across government agencies.

The appointment comes amid debate over 2027 budget plans for the disability sector, while the government says the work on audits and access will continue.
