Andalusia Parliament removes accounts chamber member over incompatibility
Andalusia’s Parliament has removed Antonio Manuel López Hernández from his post as a member of the region’s Court of Accounts.
The Court of Accounts is a public body that audits regional institutions, and López was appointed in 2021 on a proposal from the Socialist group.
The chamber found six separate incompatibilities linked to activities he carried out while serving.
These included teaching at the University of Granada without prior approval; the rules also bar members from other public or private work, with limited exceptions.
López disputed the case, asking for it to be closed and arguing that the activities were academic or scientific and that the process lacked proper authority.
The Court of Accounts completed its review and declared that the incompatibilities had arisen after he took office.
The Parliament’s president formalised his removal on Tuesday after receiving the chamber’s decision.
