EA is remastering Wing Commander 3 using its original video recordings
EA is remastering Wing Commander 3, a 1994 space-combat game directed by Chris Roberts.
EA producer Jim Vessella revealed the project at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo.
While digitising EA’s video archive, he found 600 source tapes containing the game’s original filmed scenes.
The remaster is set to include both the original and upscaled versions of those scenes, run at 60 frames per second and support controllers.
It is expected to be released on Steam, GOG and the EA app.
The presentation also lists “Kilrathi Saga integration,” which may mean the package includes the first two Wing Commander games and their expansions.
No release date was given.
