Paramount developing live-action movie set in Cyberpunk 2077 universe

Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action movie set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, the science-fiction game made by CD Projekt Red.

The game takes place in Night City, a fictional metropolis in a dystopian version of California, and follows a mercenary named V. During a heist, V becomes linked to Johnny Silverhand, a rockstar terrorist whose consciousness is played by Keanu Reeves in the game.

The game has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide, despite a troubled launch in 2020.

CD Projekt Red will co-produce the film, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is also involved.

The game has already inspired the Netflix animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, whose second season is due later this month.

The film’s plot, cast and release date have not been announced, and CD Projekt Red says it will share more details at the appropriate time.
