Australia at 6/187 after Renshaw and Cummins rescue innings

Australia were 6/187 at stumps on Day 1 of the Test in Durban.

Matt Renshaw and captain Pat Cummins had added 63 runs to help steady the innings.

Cricket Australia chief Todd Greenberg said selectors chose Nic Maddinson because they rate his talent, despite criticism of the decision.

Australia need more runs to build a competitive total.
